Qualifying as a solicitor is a challenge. For most there is no guarantee of a substantial salary and no golden ticket to the high-life. It is still a high-pressure career which is often stressful. However, the rewards are plenty: you will be working in a constantly changing and stimulating environment, develop new situations regularly, and be brought into contact with new people daily. You will be able to employ analytical and negotiating skills in a rewarding way and you will be joining a profession which, behind the headlines, is one of integrity and intellectual stimulation.
The pages in this section will hopefully provide everything you need to know to equip you for the marketplace. This includes some information about current issues, the financial side of things and alternative routes to qualification as well as useful hints and tips as to how to get your career off to the flying start it needs.
And remember - the JLD is here to support you. If you have any questions or issues you'd like us to raise please get in touch by emailing juniorlawyers@lawsociety.org.uk.
